The Osler Street Residence

Enns | Gauthier was retained in 2015 to lead a complete re-design of the back gardens of a sprawling Shaughnessy mansion on Vancouver’s west side.  The challenge was two fold: 1) re-programme and re-design the outdoor social spaces to include a more elegant terrace overlooking the expansive lawn, a dining area, a fully equipped and covered outdoor kitchen, and bar/lounge area, and 2) revitalize the materials and planting palette to create a stronger BC west coast vernacular of native plants, boulders, rocks and specimen trees.  Both of these interventions would be interconnected via a re-designed water feature, comprised of a source water fall, viewing pond, and undulating stream that meanders past the outdoor spaces and into a lower pool below.
