Bryce Gauthier

Landscape Architect, CSLA, BCSLA, LEED AP

Bryce strives to bring a greater sense of culture, history, and ecology to our communities. His approach is to never look at a space from only a landscape point of view; but to tackle urban issues from a range of perspectives.

After starting his career in 1997 as a planner and housing consultant, he returned to the University of British Columbia to pursue a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture. In 2001 he moved to Shanghai where he rose to the role of senior urban designer for Earthasia, one of China’s largest landscape architecture firms. He led many international competitions, including the Winning Submission for Shanghai’s 2010 Expo Post Development. He returned to Vancouver in 2006 to become Senior Associate at Sharp + Diamond Landscape Architecture Inc. With a particular focus on aspects of ecologically based site design and construction he led many important green projects, including the Van Dusen Botanical Gardens Visitors Centre, which is currently awaiting designation as a Living Building.

Put yourself into every second of every minute and you will have a life worth remembering. Just because we don’t have forever doesn’t mean we have to live our lives moving towards the end as if on a conveyor belt. – Shane Koyczan
